A Space To Call Home - Artist Development Scheme

In the vibrant world of the arts, creativity knows no bounds, but unfortunately, opportunities and resources can be elusive, especially for under-represented artists. Recognising this gap, Marina Studios Foundation, in collaboration with Marina Studios &  DanceHub is thrilled to announce its latest project, “A Space to Call Home” – an Artist Development Scheme supported by the National Lottery Project Grants through Arts Council England. This initiative is poised to redefine the landscape of artist development by fostering true inclusivity and providing tailored support to artists in the realm of dance creation.

What is “A Space to Call Home”?

“A Space to Call Home” is not just a project; it’s a commitment to cultivating an environment where artists, especially those from under-represented backgrounds, can thrive. The project will take place from November 2023 to August 2024 with 2 professional mentors guiding the artists to create exciting pieces of work based on social justice.

Empowering Under-Represented Artists

The primary objective of this initiative is to empower under-represented artists by providing them with the crucial resources and support needed to bring their dance creations to life. This will include, studio space, time for exploration, expert guidance, and opportunities for collaboration.

Expected Outcomes:

  • High-Quality Dance Works: Production of high-quality, innovative dance works by under-represented artists.
  • Visibility and Recognition: Increased visibility and recognition for the artists involved in the program.
  • Community Building: Cultivation of a supportive community of artists, mentors, and collaborators.

Join the team on Monday 4th December 6pm for the Intro & Info session to see if this project is right for you. We’re looking for 3 artists age 16 – 24. Bursary available for all participants. BOOK HERE
