A Guide on What to Wear to a Dance Class…
Here at DanceHub we believe dance is a beautiful form of self-expression that allows individuals to connect with their bodies, emotions, music and the community. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a beginner stepping into your first dance class, one of our most asked questions is “what shall I wear?”
Choosing the right attire is essential for comfort, flexibility, and overall enjoyment. In this blog, we’ll explore the key elements of what to wear to a dance class to ensure you move with ease and style.
Comfort is Key: Opt for breathable fabrics that allow your skin to breathe and absorb sweat. We suggest baggier clothing such as trackies for more Commercial/Street Dance styles, whereas, classes like Jazz & Ballet would be more suited to tighter fitting clothing so you and the teacher can see your technical lines.
Choose the Right Shoes: The type of dance you’re participating in will dictate the appropriate footwear. Ballet dancers typically wear ballet shoes, while jazz dancers might opt for jazz shoes, jazz heels or bare foot. Other than tap, most other classes will require a trainer. Make sure your shoes fit snugly to provide the necessary support without being too tight. For Heels class, we recommend Joheela or Dance & Sway!
Layer Up for Warm-ups: Dance classes usually start with warm-up exercises to prepare your muscles for more intensive movements. Dress in layers that you can easily remove as your body temperature rises. This might include a light jumper or a wrap top that can be taken off when you’re ready to start dancing full-out!
4. Express Your Style: While comfort and functionality are crucial, don’t forget to let your personal style shine through. Choose colours and patterns that make you feel confident and motivated.
Choosing the right dance attire is an important step toward enjoying and excelling in your dance class. Prioritise comfort and functionality, while also embracing your personal style. With the right outfit, you’ll be ready to move, groove, and express yourself in the world of dance. Now, put on your dance gear and we look forward to seeing you in the studio!
